2019-2020 alumni executive series recap
PART 1: Recap by Joe Rusiewicz '00
Did you know that the Leadership TriCounty program has an Alumni Advisor Panel? This goal of this group is to continue the growth of the leadership skills that were learned, serve as ambassadors and to continue to promote the Leadership TriCounty program.
This group meets on the second Wednesday every other month at 8:00 AM in the Chamber Conference Room. The next meeting will be Wednesday January 8, 2020.
The two major action items that our Panel is working on is the Executive Series Program and the Leadership TriCounty graduation.
The Executive Series is in its second year. We started the 2019/2020 season at Steel River Playhouse and attended the production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. At the second session we learned about the importance of Goal Setting with Coach Adrean Turner. The third session will be held on March 20th as Heather Chandler from Sealstrip, will lead us in Generational Differences. Our final session will be a lunch in May and focus on Customer Service, led by a nationally recognized company in Customer Service. Did this spur on your curiosity? Look for more about this session in future newsletters.
PART 2: Recap by Joe Rusiewicz '00
The second session of the Leadership Tri-County Executive Series was held on Friday November 8, 2019. The session, Goal Setting, was led by Coach Adrean Turner, Author, Certified Career Coach, Speaker, Professional Development Trainer and Business Consultant. Coach Adrean is also a trainer from TCN (Tri-County Community Network).
Twelve Leadership Tri-County Alumni were present for this session held at the Tri-County Area Chamber of Commerce office.
Coach Adrean shared several important aspects of Goals setting including, the 5 Rules for Goal Setting, how to set SMART Goals, as well as the importance of Goal Setting for individuals and businesses. She related her experience with Merck and Company and their emphasis on goals, which were shared by all employees of the company.
More than 80% of people and businesses never set goals and of the 20% of those who do, 70% fail to achieve them. She stressed to set priorities to achieve your goals by:
Listing your Most Important Task or MIT
Carve out 20% of your day to dedicate to the Most Important Task
Know that 80% of outcomes are generated by 20% of your activities
The group was lead through the SMART Goal Setting plan: Specific, Measurable, Agreed to, Realistic, and Time-limited.
A goal without a plan is just a dream.
Thank you to Coach Adrean for this informative and energetic presentation.
